Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is a game that encourages the children to use their imagination by thinking how different animals may move and then practising the movement

Some animals to try and their movements:
​
Crab = Sidesteps
Giraffe = BIG steps on tiptoes as tall as you can
Mouse = LITTLE steps whilst being as small as you can
Kangeroo = One footed hops
Frog = Deep jumps with two feet

Progressions include:
Mix up the animals and let the children come up with their own
Add a FREEZE element to the game
Change the theme eg. transport, superhero,

Freeze Game
Freeze game is played predominantly played in brand new settings where we need to teach the children that the word 'FREEZE' means we must STOP and freeze like a STATUE.
​
​
When the children are statues they must understand:
Statues mouths don't work
Statues feet are glued to the floor
Statues hands are out to the side
​
​
Progressions include:
Changing type of movement eg. sidesteps, backwards
Who can stop the fastest?
Create a theme eg. transport, animal, superhero

Beep Beep
This game is designed to get the children to run around in the same direction and warm up their bodies
​
Who would like to go on a drive around our island?
​
Give each child a steering wheel to hold and explain how we turn
Make sure the children put their seatbelts on, take brake off, turn engine on before they start moving
​
Drive around as different types of transport at a variety of different speeds.
Think about the different between slow, medium and fast speeds
​
Encourage children to beep their steering wheel if they think they are going to bump into another car.
​
Progressions include:

Only give out certain colour steering wheels and if your colour is then you must drive around the other cars without crashing

Colour Game
This game is designed to get the children to run around and warm up as well as understanding different colours and understanding to leave cones on the floor
​
Have the children moving around the island and shout out a colour. The children must then try and touch something inside the island the same colour
​
Explain that the children must remain inside the island when finding something to touch. The children must not pick up and carry the object to the coach.
​
When the children are touching an object, to bring them back in to the coach countdown from 3,2,1,0.
​

Instead of colours shout out materials instead eg. wod, metal, plastic, glass etc.

Traffic Light
This game is designed to get the children to run around and warm up as well as understanding the different traffic light colours and moving in different directions
​
Please start the game the same as our beep beep game by giving out steering wheels to each child
​
This time introduce the different traffic light colours
RED = FREEZE
AMBER = get ready (jog on the spot)
GREEN = DRIVE (GO)

Children must follow the traffic lights at all times both being told the colour and being shown that coloured cone.
​
Progressions include:
​
Only use the coloured cones without verbal queues causing the children to move around with their head up still looking at coach
​
Add extra road obstacles
​
SPEED BUMP = JUMP
REVERSE = WALK BACKWARDS
ROUNDABOUT = SPIN AROUND
ZEBRA CROSSING = LIE DOWN FLAT
WINDSCREEN WIPERS = MOVE HANDS SIDE TO SIDE

Colour Zone
This game is designed to get the children to run around and warm up moving in different directions as well as understanding the different colours and shapes shown
​
Please set up different shapes in the island made of different coloured cones
​
The children must move around the island in different ways until they hear a shape or colour get shouted out. They must work together to fit everyone inside the correct shape.
​
Progressions include:
​
Changing the shapes to increase difficulty
Shout out objects that are the same shape as the ones used in the game
​

Mini Run & Jump
This game is designed to get the children to run around the island travelling in the same directions as well as practising how to jump and land safely
​
Make a circle out of cones in the middle of the island and encourage the children to run in the same direction around the circle. Create lines of cones coming out from the circle. The coach could suggest the children are jumping over fences, snakes or anything they can think of.
​
Progressions include:
​
Adding more jump lines to encourage more jumping
Increase width of some jump lines so some jumps need to be further than others
Travel using different movements and change direction around the circle
​
Regressions include:
Walking round the circle and pointing to the direction we must all move in
